Informal conceptual mediation of experience in higher education

Bert Olivier

pp. 149-161

Every society has conventions that allow it to function. Some conventions should always be respected, such as driving on the left side of the road, in South Africa and Britain, and on the right side in Europe, America, and most other countries of the world. Other conventions can be stifling, and should be challenged creatively—and, with the epigraph (above) from Thoreau in mind, disobediently—from time to time.
