Moving forms of dance

Einav Katan

pp. 199-211

"Moving Forms of Dance" propounds the idea that dance touches its spectators because of the exceptional variation of meanings within live experiences. The chapter follows the variation of meanings in the choreography of Bellus. Analyzing the choreographic forms, Katan points out the living performance of dancers as immanent for vivid understanding of the dance. The chapter draws attention to the integration between the experience of dancers and the perceptual experience of viewers. Finally, the chapter concludes with the embodied experience of comprehending a dance, advancing the idea that it causes the move of perceptual schemata for all people involved in perceiving the dance.
